HID Global has been associated with VMware which is integrating HID Mobile Access with the latest digital workspace and the unified endpoint management platform VMware Workspace ONE, to allow users to access buildings and unlock doors by touching their mobile phones to a reader or using technology of mobile gestures "turn and go".
According to the announcement, this partnership will help foster the wide adoption of mobile access to digital and physical spaces, as users can now use smartphones to interact with applications, computers, networks, data and cloud-based services. Mobile credentials are delivered through the HID Origo cloud-based access control platform. Origo was thrown out in January 2019 to offer a safer work environment, integrated with technology and intuitive through mobile access control.
"The collaboration between two of the leading companies in the fields of cybersecurity and physical security will help accelerate the use of convergent physical and logical access control on mobile devices," said Hilding Arrehed, vice president of cloud services, Physical Access Control , with HID Global. "The solution underscores the shared commitment of HID and VMware to bring to market one of the first unified access control solutions in the industry for a broad user base."
VMware has already tested the integration of the platform through Bluetooth readers and mobile IDs in its own facilities. HID APIs and software development kits allowed VMware to directly access HID access control hardware, accelerating integration and pilot execution.
"Adding physical access control capabilities to Workspace ONE will bring a unique element to our customers' digital transformation journeys as we go one step further in redefining what it means to provide powerful digital employee experiences in any application on any device. "said Tony Kueh, vice president of product management, End User Computing, VMware.
Workspace ONE is a unified cross-platform management and control solution that can be deployed in the cloud or on the premises. In 2018, the global intelligence company IDC named it a leader in Business Mobility Management, while Gartner included it in the leader quadrant.
